Explore Kenya with three washed coffees: Kamavindi Estate, Rungeto Karimikui Factory, and Rungeto Kii Factory.
Take a sensory journey to Kenya. This set includes three washed coffees, each with its own story. You’ll receive the farm details now, but flavour notes stay a surprise until the end of the month. Will they taste the same or different? Let's find out together.
What’s Inside
Kamavindi AA (Washed)
From Kamavindi Estate in Embu County, run by Peter Mbature with Hellen Weveti and Gladwell Wanjira. Founded in 1958, the farm now has 7,000 SL28 and Ruiru 11 trees, plus a small planting of Gesha. Altitude: ~1,650–1,680 m.
Karimikui AA
Processed at Karimikui Factory, part of the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) in Kirinyaga County. Around 1,400 smallholders deliver cherry here. Modernised with tiled fermentation tanks, water re-use, and raised drying beds. Altitude: ~1,600–1,800 m.
Kii AA
From Kii Factory, also under Rungeto FCS, built in 1995 at the foot of Mt. Kenya. Over 850 farmers contribute cherries. Known for careful fermentation, sorting, and drying, with strong focus on water and soil conservation. Altitude: ~1,600–1,900 m.
Roaster's Notes: This is our first time doing this together. Part of roasting coffees are picking coffees to discover how coffees are similar and how they differ. The fun comes from tasting it together and discussing about it. Let's see how this first tasting set goes :)
Flavour Notes: Brew, taste, and write down your impressions. At month’s end, we’ll reveal the flavour notes together.
